r.i.p. langston and turbo :(

on tuesday shane and i discovered that langston some how got ick disease. put medicine in the tank hoping it would kick into his system. turbo stayed close to langston all day. sadly last night langston passed away. not a very fun way to start the morning. turbo, since he had gotten so close to langston yesterday had ick all over him and looked terrible this morning. we weren't expecting him to live for many more days. unfortunately turbo passed away just before i got home from school this afternoon. it has been a very sad day in our home today. these fish, were by far the coolest fish ever and i wish we could have spend more time with them. r.i.p langston and turbo. we love you!

tv/movie addicted fish!

so, last night shane and i wanted to watch a movie from the internet. we hooked up the laptop to the tv (bigger screen) and discovered that once the movie had started that turbo and langston (if you don’t know who they are…look back on the past quite a few posts) were staring intently at the laptop screen. ladies and gentlemen…our fish love watching tv/movies! they watched the entire time until the credits were over at the end.

those crazy fish!

welcome to the family!

that's right! we got to bring turbo home today and introduce him to langston!

they are both super cute! i can sit and watch them in the tank for hours...they are just so entertaining! at first when we put turbo in langston didn't like him AT ALL! you see...there is a BIG size difference...(blurry...but you get the point!) if turbo came anywhere near langston, he would FREAK OUT and swim to the other end of the tank as fast as he could.

but then langston started to realize that turbo didn't want to eat him, and instead was just like him but bigger. langston started following turbo around. but he still freaks out when turbo tries to follow him. haha crazy fish!

welcome to the family turbo! we are glad you are finally here :) shane and i are very excited to have our two fishies and watch them interact with one another.

turbo says "hello!"

hello langston!

who is langston you ask? well, i'll tell you!
he is ONE of our FISHIES!!!!!

isn't he cute?!

so we still have to wait til WEDNESDAY to bring turbo home, but shane decided to go get a fish friend for turbo and that way there can at least be a fish in the tank. he saw this little guy and knew we had to adopt him too! shane asked the pet guy if it was okay to bring him home since we were told we had to wait for turbo because of the tank. thankfully the pet guy said that since he was small he would be just fine! so now he is in his new AWESOME tank at home with us :) i love this little guy, he is so cool! he will scoop up the rocks with his mouth and then spit them out. shane and i are very excited to welcome him into our family and also to bring turbo home next week!

new addition!

as a valentines day gift my husband surprised me with this:

it was his way of tell me we are getting a FISH! :D
okay, so most people would say”…really a fish? that’s a lame pet.” but where we are living we can’t have any ‘normal’ pets in the house (dog, cat, etc.) so a fish is basically the only pet we would be able to have. i am SO excited! i miss having pets and the interaction with them. we went to petsmart last night and went “fish looking”. now most fish are rather dull. they just float there and do nothing (kind of a boring pet) BUT i found this WAY AWESOME fish that was unlike all the others. he was social, fun, entertaining, and we had a connection! it was meant to be! that was my fish! he is a tropical goldfish? that’s what i call him anyway. he looks similar to a goldfish but he’s big HUGE! he puts the gravel in his mouth and then spits them out…it’s fabulous! i was all excited, figuring out what tank we needed, what decorations we could put in, getting his filter and everything and then….the lady working in the fish department asked if we already had a fish tank at home set up.
“no, we are just starting one”
“oh, well it’s best to have a tank all put together and running for at least a week before putting a fish in it or else it won’t make it.”
*WHAT THE HECK!?!?!??!*
devastation shot all across my face. i mean, it was ridiculous. who knew you had to have all of that prepared at LEAST a week before?! not us! to say the least i was very disappointed because that i meant i wasn’t going to be able to take my awesome social fish home with me that night. i told her which one we wanted and she said that he had been there for awhile and he is a known fish to all the workers because of how ‘cool’ he is and that he would more than likely still be there when we come back the following week.
*fingers crossed*
so with a sigh we got the tank, gravel, decorations, filter, heater, net, and everything else to get this tank fixed up so that a week from now we could go get turbo (that’s what i named him) :) cute right?!
anyway, this is his tank…it’s alllllll ready for turbo to come home :)

here is a better look at his beach lounge on the right!

to say i’m excited about this is an understatement :)
